A special place of culture

Weimar, the "European City of Culture" of 1999, is situated in the middle of Germany, in the heart of the Free State of Thuringia. The modern boarding school complex, "Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere", is only five kilometres south of the city centre and is to be found in a wonderfully scenic location next to the Rococo Castle Belvedere, on top of a hillside overlooking a beautifully landscaped park. The "Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere" is a state-run school for currently about 100 musically gifted students, who begin their education in the fifth form and graduate after completing their A-Levels. While 50 % of the students come from Thuringia, the school welcomes applications from all over Germany and abroad. The school's main aim is to provide the students with a relevant, outstanding comprehensive education, designed to meet their individual personal needs. In addition to this, the school works closely with the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar to offer its students a first-class musical training, which is both comprehensive and demanding.
